Kids can be themselves at a St. Peters Summer Camp, because there's a Summer Camp for every kid!

Whether your kid is artistic, athletic, crafty, adventurous, or all of the above—St. Peters Summer Camps cater to all kinds of kids with weekly Art Experience Camps, Rec-Plex Activities Camps & Sports Camps!

 

If your kids love creating art, then check out the ART EXPERIENCE CAMPS, including DRAWING/PAINTING CAMPSCLAY CAMPS and FENCING CAMP, which are all held in the Cultural Arts Centre in the west wing of City Hall, One St. Peters Centre Blvd.

 

Meanwhile, you can also give your child the choice of REC-PLEX ACTIVITIES CAMPS or REC-PLEX SPORTS CAMPS, which both take place at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Rd.

2017 Summer Art Camp-Little Girl 


Do you have a young, budding artist at home who loves to draw, color and create to their heart's content? Why not give them an "Art Experience" at the Cultural Arts Centre's summer art camps? Let your kids unleash their creativity (and energy!) at one of three types of weeklong art camps including Themed Drawing/Painting Camps, Clay Camps or Fencing Camp.

 

All Art Experience Camps will meet at the Cultural Arts Centre located in the west wing of St. Peters City Hall. First-time registration for Art Experience Camps is required in person at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road. Once in-person registration is completed, all future camp registrations for the year can be completed online through Rec-Connect. CLICK HERE for more registration information. You must present a current Resident Privilege Card to receive resident rates.

2017 Summer Art Camp-Little Girl Painting

THEMED DRAWING/PAINTING CAMPS 

Ages 6-12 • 8 weeks

Kids will get to explore a variety of art media and technique with different projects and themes every week. These camps will also feature the following regularly scheduled special activities every week:

 

  • 10:45 a.m. Tuesdays: Artists present special art demonstrations
  • 10:45 a.m. Wednesdays: Plein air (open air) painting outside (as weather permits)
  • 2:30 p.m. Fridays: Weekly art show

2017 Summer Art Camp-Clay Little BoyCLAY CAMPS

Ages 8-12 • 4 weeks
Dates: June 3-7, June 10-14, June 17-21, June 24-28

If your child loves working with clay and sculpting art, this is the camp for them! Campers will each have their own brick of air-dry firing clay to use each week and will also get to use the pottery wheel once a week.

 

Please note: All clay projects are created using both air dry clay and stoneware (fire clay). Air dry clay projects will be sent home at the end of the week. The large bowls created on the pottery wheel will need to dry first and then be fired. Fire clay has a process; it has to be scraped and dried before being fired in the kiln. This is not possible the same week as your child’s camp. Please see the schedule below to see when your child can come back to paint their finished pieces. These projects will not be glazed. 

 

2019 Clay Project Firing, Pickup and Painting Schedule:
  • June 20: Weeks 1 & 2 clay projects to be fired
  • July 9, 10 & 13: Clay projects from Weeks 1 & 2 can be picked up and painted (painting is optional)
  • July 11: Weeks 3 & 4 clay projects to be fired
  • July 23, 24 & 27: Clay projects from Weeks 3 & 4 can be picked up and painted (painting is optional)
  • Aug. 5: Last pick-up day for all clay projects!

 

2017 Summer Art Camp-FencingFENCING CAMP

Your child will learn the basics of the art of fencing, including the en garde position, stance, defense, attacks and courtesy. This is a combined class for both beginners and experienced. Campers should wear comfortable pants (sweat pants or running pants). All equipment is provided by the instructor.

Rec-Plex-Summer-Camp-2017-group

 
Rec-Plex Summer Activities Camp provides a safe, enjoyable opportunity for kids ages 6-12 to meet new friends, play games, go on field trips, and enjoy plenty of Rec-Plex activities such as swimming, diving, ice skating and more. Campers enjoy both the St. Peters Rec-Plex and beautiful City Centre Park. Camp fees include a T-shirt and weekly field trip. The camp is staffed with qualified personnel who develop and coordinate activities/games and supervise the camps.

 

Camp meets from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and runs in one-week sessions. Before and After Care is available before (7-9 a.m.) and after (3:30-6 p.m.) our normal camp hours. FIRST-TIME registration is available IN-PERSON ONLY at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road. LEARN HOW TO REGISTER.

2019 REC-PLEX SUMMER SPORTS CAMPS

St. Peters Rec-Plex Sports Camps offer kids a chance to play their favorite sport and also enjoy other Rec-Plex activities, such as swimming and ice skating, and fun outdoors in City Centre Park. Camp fees include a T-Shirt and weekly field trip. Campers play in their own age group, for a chance to meet new friends. Before and after care is available. Limited openings are available so sign up early! First-time registration must be completed in-person at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road. Once in-person registration is completed, all future camp registrations for the year can be completed online through Rec-ConnectLEARN HOW TO REGISTER.

Baseball Camp

Oil your gloves and join us for fun on the diamond. Campers will enjoy America's pastime as they hit, field, throw and scrimmage against each other.

Basketball Camp
Here’s a slam dunk for summer fun: If your child loves basketball, this camp will build up skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive/offensive positioning.

Cheer Camp
Let’s hear you cheer! Campers will learn the fundamentals of cheering, short spirit routines, and basic cheerleading moves. (No tumbling or stunting.)

Dance Camp

Try dance--learn some fun moves and feel the music!

Dates: 5/28-5/31*, 7/1-7/5*, 7/29-8/2

 

Dodgeball Camp

Your favorite P.E. game is now a camp! Learn how to duck, dive, dip, chuck and DODGE a ball. You will play a variety of games that will lead to a dodgeball tournament. (We use soft gator balls.)

Flag Football Camp

Campers are you ready for some football? Your child will work on passing, receiving, defensive/offensive plays, and get an overall understanding of flag football.

Dates: 6/3-6/7, 7/1-7/5*, 7/15-7/19


Pickleball Camp

This new indoor paddle sport offers a mix of tennis, badminton and ping pong—fun for all abilities! Learn more about Pickleball at St. Peters Rec-Plex.

Soccer Camp

Futsal is a lot like soccer, with a fun indoor twist. You play Futsal indoors on a hard wood surface, with a smaller ball that has less bounce than a regular soccer ball. The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity, and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces. Campers will be sure to sharpen their soccer skills during this camp.

Volleyball Camp

Bump, set, spike, have fun! Your child will learn the fundamentals of volleyball on our indoor courts.

Rec-Plex-Camp-Soccer 

 

SPECIALTY SPORTS CAMPS • Ages 7-12 • $221/week

 

Rink Rats Summer Hockey Camp

Rink Rats will keep cool and gain extra ice time each day during this camp. We’ll develop agility, balance, speed and teamwork, plus have fun playing different mini-games and drills! Campers must have basic hockey experience and full equipment is required to participate.

Summer Figure Skating Camp
Skaters get extra ice time each day to develop skating skills, plus get an introduction to ice dancing, synchronized skating and choreography while building up cardio fitness. Camp is for Alpha through Freestyle 5 skaters.

SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION INFORMATION

For both Rec-Plex and Art Experience Summer Camps 

 

  • YOUR FIRST TIME REGISTERING FOR 2019 SUMMER CAMPS MUST BE COMPLETED IN-PERSON ONLY AT THE REC-PLEX, 5200 Mexico Road. Please fill out all necessary forms in the 2019 REGISTRATION PACKET (PDF download) AHEAD OF TIME.
  • Once in-person registration is completed, all future camp registrations for the year can be completed online through Rec-Connect.
  • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. There are a limited number of openings for each session.
  • Authorization forms (pages 11-12 in the registration packet above) must be filled out during first-time registration. All camp sessions you choose must be paid in full when you register for them.
  • Registration must be completed NO LATER than 7 p.m. on the Wednesday the week before camp. See below for late registration information.
  • If special arrangements need to be made for your child, it must be done in writing at the time of registration (please fill out the Special Requests Form on page 18 of the 2019 Registration Packet (see link above). 
  • Programming sheets will be posted online showing more specific activities for your children in the week prior to attending camp.

Late registration information:

  • Extra $20 charge if registration is turned in (either online or in-person) between Thursday through 3 p.m. Saturday before camp. 
  • ALL LATE REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 3 P.M. SATURDAY BEFORE CAMP.
  • Walk-in registration: $40 late fee for walk-in registrations the day of camp.

REC-PLEX SUMMER CAMPS LUNCH OPTIONS: 1) Purchase lunch at the Rec-Plex daily. 2) Weekly lunch plan available online (no lunches served Friday). 3) Bring lunch (please use a small lunch bag, space is limited; refrigeration is not available). We also encourage bringing two snacks daily.

 

ART EXPERIENCE SUMMER CAMPS LUNCH POLICY: Bring a lunch and two snacks each day—refrigeration is not available. Lunch is from 12-12:30 p.m. every day, with two snack breaks.
