Older Adult Fitness
Our goal at the St. Peters Rec-Plex is to help you get the most out of your membership so that you can enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle.
Fitness experts recommend that older adults do moderate activity for at least 30 minutes a day on five or more days a week. As we age, it’s as important as ever to exercise regularly in order to avoid falls and injuries as well as problems such as heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer and high blood pressure.

Healthways SilverSneakers® Fitness Program Location
Members of Select Medicare Health Plans Can Enjoy FREE Rec-Plex Membership
The St. Peters Rec-Plex is a participating location for the Healthways SilverSneakers® Fitness program. This means that Medicare-eligible individuals whose health plan includes SilverSneakers can enjoy the benefits of a basic membership at the Rec-Plex for FREE.
The Healthways SilverSneakers Fitness program is offered by leading Medicare health plans and Medicare Supplement carriers throughout the country. SilverSneakers provides membership for active older adults at participating fitness locations such as the Rec-Plex.
Go online to www.silversneakers.com to check to see if your health plan offers SilverSneakers and how you can start using the fitness program. After enrollment, SilverSneakers members can bring in their ID card to the Rec-Plex at 5200 Mexico Rd. to verify their eligibility and get the advantages of a FREE basic membership at the Rec-Plex. Just bring your Rec-Plex membership card and SilverSneakers ID card each time you visit the Rec-Plex to enjoy the facility at no cost.

Take advantage of this speaker series geared toward Healthways SilverSneakers® Fitness members, Renew Active™ by UnitedHealthcare members and other older adults. Each event is open and FREE to the general public. Sessions usually meet on Wednesday mornings between November and March. Check below for scheduled events.

Renew Active™ by UnitedHealthcare Fitness Program
Welcome to the St. Peters Rec-Plex!
As of Jan. 1, 2019, the St. Peters Rec-Plex is a participating location for Renew Active™ by UnitedHealthcare! Renew Active is a fitness program available to select United Healthcare Medicare Advantage members.
Renew Active fitness program members receive a FREE base membership at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. CLICK HERE to see all of the advantages included in a Rec-Plex membership.
When can I start using my Renew Active benefits?
You will be able to access your unique confirmation code and start using Renew Active beginning on the effective date of your Medicare Advantage health plan. Bring your confirmation code to the Rec-Plex in order to sign up for your Renew Active Rec-Plex membership.

LOW OLDER ADULT RATES
If you’re not a SilverSneakers member, remember that the Rec-Plex offers low membership rates for active older adults. You do not have to be a St. Peters resident to join the Rec-Plex. The Rec-Plex also offers low non-resident rates. LEARN MORE ABOUT REC-PLEX MEMBERSHIPS
Rec-Plex members can join many of our fitness and aqua aerobics classes at a discount. Group Aerobics classes, including Active Older Adult classes, are FREE to Rec-Plex members (learn more below).
GRANDPARENT FAMILY PASSES
Grandparents, would you like to bring your grandkids to the Rec-Plex on a regular basis?
The Rec-Plex gives you the opportunity to buy a “Grandparent Family Pass” for you and your grandchildren to enjoy the Rec-Plex together. This membership gives you the same benefits as the Rec-Plex's regular Family Pass, but allows you to sign up your grandkids, no matter whether they live with you or not.
Kids love the Rec-Plex Leisure Pool, ice skating sessions and basketball in the open gym. And, you can work to stay fit.

ACTIVE OLDER ADULT GROUP AEROBICS
We’ve added Active Older Adult fitness classes to our lineup of group aerobics classes FREE to Rec-Plex members. These are 30-minute classes, offered in the morning Monday through Thursday, taught specifically for active older adults. We’re getting great feedback from class members who say they feel better, stronger and more active because of these new Active Older Adult group aerobics classes.

The St. Peters Rec-Plex offers a Walking Club to help active older adults reach the guideline of at least 30 minutes of moderate activity, 5 days a week in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Walking is a simple, but important, way to stay active and fit by going at your own pace. The Walking Club is a fun way to meet that goal while also socializing and having a chance to win prizes!
Our Walking Club meets at 9:30 a.m. Monday through Friday on the indoor rubberized track.
To earn miles in the Walking Club, be sure to swipe in at the Rec-Plex front desk and also sign in at the indoor track.
If you can’t make it to the Walking Club on weekdays at 9:30 a.m., but you still want to be part of the fun, you can choose a different time to swipe in at the front desk, sign in at the track, and walk for 30 minutes. Or, you can swipe in, sign in and attend 30-minute Active Older Adult fitness classes (see above).
WARM WATER AEROBICS
The St. Peters Rec-Plex offers aqua aerobics classes for a great, low-impact workout. Check out warm water aqua aerobics classes for heart-healthy exercise that takes it easy on your joints.

MORE 50+ FITNESS CLASSES
In addition to Older Active Adult Aerobics, the Rec-Plex offers other fitness classes ideal for ages 50 and up, including Chair Yoga and Beginning Line Dancing.
