Applying for a License to Operate a Business in St. Peters
All businesses are required to have a business license. Effective April 1, 2020, all City license applications are online via CitizenServe; however, a link to the CitizenServe Licensing Portal is not currently available on the city’s website, while parts are still under construction.
The licensing office can direct you to the correct online license application(s) by emailing email@example.com. Please include the business name and the type of business to be conducted. A licensing specialist will provide you with instructions and guidelines to apply online. Or you can complete this fillable Licensing Application Request form and click EMAIL FORM to submit to the licensing office.
Fees vary depending upon the type of license (General Business, Food Service Establishment, Hotel, Amusement/Arcade, Peddler, Itinerant Vendor, Tow Truck, Massage Establishment, etc.).
For businesses occupying commercial property in the city, the license certificate will not be issued until you have your occupancy permit.
If your business has product subject to retail sales, a Certificate of No Tax Due must be obtained from the Missouri Department of Revenue before you apply for a city license. CLICK HERE to learn how to apply for a state sales tax number, or call the Missouri Department of Revenue at 573-751-5860.
You can reach the St. Peters Business Licensing Office at 636-477-6600, ext. 1232.
