Rain mixed with wintry weather conditions are expected to move through our area today, Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, into Thursday morning, impacting road conditions.
The City of St. Peters’ Snow and Ice Removal Team will respond as needed to clear roads—but please keep in mind that the forecast also calls for rain before snow, which can lead to poorer road conditions. Rain washes away chemicals that could be used to pre-treat roads. Further complicating this weather event is that ice could form on wet pavement during the morning commute on Thursday due to a sudden drop in temperatures well below freezing.
Our snow removal team also needs help from our residents to keep streets as clear as possible. Please do two things during winter weather events to help us clear snow or ice:
- Park your car on the driveway or in the garage, rather than on the street.
- Move trash carts to the edge of your driveway on collection day, not on the street or in the curb.
By moving obstructions such as cars and trash carts from the street, ice and snow removal crews can work more effectively and safely to treat and clear our roads.
