Honor our nation’s military heroes at the City of St. Peters’ annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2019. Hosted by the St. Peters Veterans Memorial Commission, the ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial adjacent to St. Peters City Hall.
Refreshments will be served inside City Hall after the ceremony. This event is free and open to the public.
The featured speaker will be Betty Gonzales, who served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-70. She is the past Department Commander of the American Legion of Missouri and also has served as Commandant of Detachment 725 of the St. Charles County Marine Corps League.
As a member of St. Louis Service Women’s Post 404, Gonzales served as Commander for three years and in every officer capacity except Adjutant. In 2010, Gonzales became the first woman to serve as Commander for the 11th/12th District of St. Louis. In 2015, she was selected District Legionnaire of the Year.
