Drivers should be on the lookout for a shift in traffic lanes in the Jungermann Road construction area. Driving lanes will need to shift from the east side of Jungermann Road to the west side near Briarwick Trail and Margaret Brown Court as construction progresses on the Jungermann Road Bridge Replacement project. That shift is expected to take place on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
This shift in traffic will allow for completion of a replacement box culvert at Margaret Brown Court. Half of the culvert is in place, and shifting traffic lanes to the west side of the road will allow construction of the other half.
The $2.9 million Jungermann Road Bridge Replacement project will replace two existing box culverts on Jungermann between Country Creek Drive and Margaret Brown Court, as well as improve park trails and mitigate flooding issues. To allow construction, traffic on Jungermann Road has been reduced to one lane each way between Briarwick Trail on the south end and Barkwood Trails Drive on the north end. Driving lanes will not change at this point on the north side of the project around Country Creek Drive.
The winter weather has been a challenge to major road construction projects early in 2019. As the weather allows, the City of St. Peters will make every effort to get projects moving to get them completed as quickly, and as safely, as possible.
Drivers are asked to use caution while traveling through this area and to obey traffic signs. The work zone speed limit for the project has been reduced to 25 mph.
