Work Zone Speed Limit Reduced During Jungermann Road Bridge Replacement Project

April 25, 2018
Effective immediately, the City of St. Peters has lowered the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph in the construction zone on Jungermann Road between Willott Road and Della Drive.

Concerns about construction worker and driver safety led to the need for lowering the speed limit while construction continues. The project is expected to take approximately one year.

Signage has been changed to reflect the new speed limit and give drivers advance warning of the reduced speed zone. Police will enforce the posted 25 mph speed limit during the project.

As always, please use caution when traveling through work zones throughout the area. Traffic remains closed down to one lane in each direction on Jungermann Road between Barkwood Trails and Briarwick Drive through the remainder of the project. These lane closures will remain constant for approximately one year.

In addition to the replacement of the bridges along Jungermann Road, improvements will be made to the nearby park trail to improve safety and access for pedestrians and bikes. The project will include an 11-foot wide trail along Jungermann Road, and construction of two trail crossings at Jungermann Road, one at the Country Creek Drive traffic signal and the other under the new bridge to be constructed just north of Country Creek Drive.
