March 5, 2018
NitrogenLogoMediumHere's an easy way you can improve gas mileage for your car: Fill your tires with nitrogen at St. Peters Nitrogen Tire-Filling Station. This service is offered to St. Peters residents for free beginning April 1, 2018, through the end of September. The station opens to the general public May 1 at a cost of $30 per vehicle for non-residents.

Filling tires with nitrogen can increase your vehicle's miles per gallon by as much as 2.5 percent, for an average savings of 15 gallons of fuel per year. Nitrogen-filled tires also last longer because they keep their pressure longer and do not have the extreme fluctuations in pressure that air-filled tires experience.

This service is offered by appointment only. St. Peters residents with a current Resident Privilege Card may schedule appointments either online at or by calling 636-970-1456. Non-residents can make their appointment by phone only, and the $30 fee must be paid in advance with cash or check only in person at 131 Ecology Drive.

Normal operating hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays and the third Saturday of the month from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The tire-filing station is located at the HES Operations Building at 135 Ecology Drive which is directly behind Recycle City.
