In the coming weeks, drivers can expect changing traffic patterns and lane closures due to construction projects along Jungermann Road in the Boone Hills Drive area, including a temporary closure to all traffic in both directions on Jungermann north of Boone Hills.
Here is a summary of scheduled traffic changes expected in the coming weeks:
- Dec. 7: Both southbound lanes and center turn lane of Jungermann Road will be closed. The remaining lanes will be converted to provide one lane for northbound and one lane for southbound Jungermann traffic. These lane closures will accommodate construction of a large storm sewer on the west side Jungermann. The lane closures will occur between Gailwood Drive and Orchard Hills Drive.
- Dec. 11: Boone Hills Drive will be impacted during installation of a large storm sewer just west of Jungermann. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Boone Hills at all times, but drivers should expect changing traffic patterns during pipe installation.
- Dec. 18: Jungermann will close to traffic just north of Boone Hills to allow removal and replacement of a box culvert. Jungermann will remain open to local traffic from Mexico Road to Twill Valley Court and from Willott Road to Boone Hills Drive. Traffic will be detoured around this area using Mexico, Spencer and Willott Roads.
- Dec. 23: Jungermann will reopen to the partially closed conditions established on Dec. 7, with one lane for northbound and one lane for southbound traffic.
All of the scheduled dates above are dependent on weather.
Work is underway on a road construction project to improve the intersection of Jungermann and Boone Hills with a new box culvert, new traffic signals and related improvements. At the same time, a Prop P stormwater improvement project is underway to restore floodplain at the northwest corner of the intersection and install a large diameter storm sewer along the west side of Jungermann from Boone Hills to Plum Tree Drive.
Drivers are asked to use caution while traveling through this area and to obey traffic signs.
Pedestrians also can expect sidewalk closures during construction.
