May 8, 2017
Memorial Day is a national holiday set aside to remember soldiers who died during military service. The St. Peters Veterans Memorial Commission invites you to come out and honor all those American soldiers who gave their lives in the line of duty.

This year, St. Peters Veterans Memorial Commission has a special remembrance ceremony planned on Monday, May 29, beginning with a helicopter landing at 9:30 a.m. and the ceremony following at 10 a.m. Featured speakers will be Adolphus T. Watson and Byron Watson. Adolphus is a World War II veteran and his son, Byron, is a Vietnam veteran.

A special laying of the wreath is a touching part of the ceremony. World War II veterans Velma Jesse and Robert Hale will present the wreath during the ceremony.

Vocalist Olivia Flores will perform the National Anthem and vocalist Kathy Lawton Brown will perform a musical tribute to all veterans.

The Honor Guard will be represented by members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. The Patriot Guard Riders and American Legion Riders, Marine Corps Auxilliary, 101st Airborne Division, Knights of Columbus, and the AMVETS Post 106 Rifle Team will all play a special part in the ceremony.
