Can You See the Arch?

Mark your calendar for some interesting art from people all over the nation: The St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre will host a national membership exhibit for the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media (SLMM) Sept. 5-Oct. 27, 2019. The theme is: Can You See the Arch? With the event coming to the St. Louis area, all of these artists will include an arch in their composition. Interested in participating? Current national members of SLMM are eligible to enter the competition. Submit your entry by July 1. Shirley Nachtrieb, a liaison for SLMM and an art instructor at the Cultural Arts Centre, said layering “is not a label for a particular style or medium — it’s a diverse approach to art.” “It doesn’t necessarily mean using precise layers of paint, either,” Shirley said. “It could be overlapping disciplines, such as science, philosophy, metaphysics and so on.” The SLMM National Conference, “Meet Me in St. Louis …” is scheduled for Oct. 8-11 in St. Louis. The conference will come to St. Peters on Oct. 9 to visit the exhibit at the Cultural Arts Centre. For more information, visit slmm.org.
