Get into the holiday spirit as you embark on a trip to Illinois’s “Gem City,” Quincy, on Dec. 6, 2023. Check out this Mississippi River town’s historic districts, including the Downtown Quincy Historic District and the South Side German Historic District, and enjoy a private home tour of some of Quincy’s finest mansions, giving you a look inside these magnificent homes and gardens that will be fully decorated for the holiday season.

Enjoy authentic Italian cuisine for lunch at a local favorite, Tiramisu, and bring a treat home from Underbrink’s Bakery, where you also can check out antique baking tools and containers, the original display cases, antique ovens, mixers and gadgets from the 1930s.

We’ll tour the John Wood Mansion, which features four large Doric columns, four large chimneys, and many ornate details inside and out. A great many original Wood family and period furnishings are displayed throughout the mansion.

A brief stop also is scheduled at the Oakley-Lindsay Center, a regional convention center.
