St. Peters Summer Camps

 

Kids can be themselves at a St. Peters Summer Camp, because there's a Summer Camp for every kid. Artistic? Athletic? Crafty? Adventurous? St. Peters caters to all kinds of kids with weekly Art Experience Camps, Activities Camps and Sports Camps.

 

The Cultural Arts Centre is located at St. Peters City Hall. You can bring your child to St. Peters City Centre for all of St. Peters’ Summer Camps. Choose ART EXPERIENCE CAMPS, FENCING CAMPS or THEATER CAMPS at the Cultural Arts Centre at City Hall, 1 St. Peters Centre Blvd., and your child can have fun creating art. PLUS, Full-Day Art Experience Campers enjoy a partial day of activities at the St. Peters Rec-Plex and City Centre Park playground as well as Plein Air (outdoor) painting opportunities!

St. Peters Art Camp

 

 

2016 Summer Art Experience Camps

At the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre (west wing of City Hall)

 

Each day we will emphasize various elements of art. We will work with a wide range of mediums including acrylics, watercolor, oil pastels, and more. Children of all experience levels are welcome at our camps.

Each Wednesday afternoon, children enrolled in our Art camps have the opportunity to go to the Rec-Plex as a group and swim. 

 

 

ART EXPERIENCE CAMP FEES:

  • Half-Day Camp: $65 St. Peters residents / $75 non-residents
  • Full-Day Camps:
    • Art, Fencing and Theatre Camps: $110 St. Peters residents / $120 non-residents
    • It's All About Clay Camp: $140 St. Peters residents / $150 non-residents


Art Experience Camps will meet at the Cultural Arts Centre located in the west wing of St. Peters City Hall. Pre-registration for Art Experience Camps is required in person at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road. You must present a current Resident Privilege Card to receive resident rates.

Animal Drawing/Painting Camp
Ages 6-9 • Full- and Half-Day/Ages 10-12 • Full-Day
We will devote our week drawing and painting animals, pets, woods, streams and lakes.

June 13-17
Master's Drawing/Painting Camp
Ages 6-9 and 10-12 • Full-Day only
Fun and innovative art projects will be inspired by famous master painters. We will use famous paintings to understand artistic style. Campers will reproduce their own versions.

June 20 – 24
Just Imagination Drawing/Painting Camp
Ages 6-9 and 10-12 • Full-Day only
Campers will use their imagination to create art from recycled materials as well as traditional art supplies. The possibilities are endless.

June 27 – July 1
The World Below Drawing/Painting Camp
Ages 6-9 and 10-12 • Full-Day only
Your child will draw and paint the world below the ground and under the sea in this creative camp.

July 5 – 8
Symphony of the Senses Drawing/Painting Camp
Ages 6-9 • Full- and Half-Day/Ages 10-12 • Full-Day
Campers will listen to classical music while creating art that encompasses movement and rhythm. They will also create musical instruments from recycled materials to enhance their experience.

July 11 – 15
Wild West Drawing/Painting Camp
Ages 6-9 • Full- and Half-Day/Ages 10-12 • Full-Day
In this camp your child will explore art inspired by the Western United States.

July 18 – 22
Wizards, Dragons and Fairies Drawing/Painting Camp
Ages 6-9 • Full- and Half-Day/Ages 10-12 • Full-Day
In this camp your child will create fantasy characters such as dragons, fairies, unicorns, and wizards using a variety of art mediums.

July 25 – 29
Collage/Abstract Drawing/Painting Camp
Ages 6-9 and 10-12 • Full-Day only
Your child will learn how to create a variety of textured surfaces to be used in collage. We will incorporate abstract creations to create one of a kind art your child is sure to enjoy.

August 1 – 5
Tropical Drawing/Painting Camp
Ages 6-9 and 10-12 • Full-Day only
Your child will discover art while exploring tropical climates and places. Trees, landscapes, and flowers are sure to be part of this exciting camp.

 

 

2016 THEATRE CAMPS


June 6 - 10 OR June 13-17
Ages 9-12 • Full-Day only

In this camp we will explore a range of performance skills. They will include the techniques that actors use on stage, theatrical terms and how to audition. Students will work together to create a unique performance the last day of camp.

Stage Combat Camp

Ages 12-16 • Full-Day only
$110/St. Peters Residents - $120/Non-residents

ATTENTION YOUNG ACTORS! Would you like to add a little excitement to your acting? Would you like to expand your experience in the craft? Do you want to do something fun and expressive? In this camp young actors will have the opportunity to learn how to perform some of the physical actions required of many actors. We will cover various combat actions seen on stage from punches, kicks and throws to ear, hair and nose pulls. We will also be doing some weapon work: specifically, quarterstaff and sword. The training we will be doing will lead up to a performance on the last day of camp.

 

 

2016 IT’S ALL ABOUT CLAY CAMPS

June 20-24 OR June 27-July 1
Ages 8-12 • 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. • Full-Day only
$140/St. Peters residents • $150/non-residents

You asked us and we listened! If your camper loves working with clay and loves the pottery wheel, this is the camp for them. Campers will each have their own brick of clay (12.5lbs.) to use throughout the week working on clay projects. Please be aware that clay has a process. It has to be scraped and dried before being fired. This is not possible during the week your child is here. After it is fired, we will have dates available for your child to come back to the Centre to paint their pieces. The projects will not be glazed. A schedule with dates and times for painting will be sent home with your child and posted on the City’s web site.

2016 FENCING 101 & 102 CAMP

This is a combined camp.

July 11-15 OR July 25 – 29
Ages 10-16 • 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. • Full-Day only
$110/St. Peters residents • $120/non-residents
Campers ages 10 – 16 will learn this art’s basics, including the en garde position, stance, defense attacks and courtesy. This class is perfect for the beginner or for those who have experienced fencing before. Wear comfortable pants (sweat pants or running pants) to class. All equipment is provided by the instructor.

2016 Rec-Plex Summer Activities Camp

 

 
Summer Activities Camp provides a safe, enjoyable opportunity for kids ages 6-12 to meet new friends, play games, go on field trips, and enjoy plenty of Rec-Plex activities such as swimming, diving, ice skating and more. Campers enjoy both the St. Peters Rec-Plex and beautiful City Centre Park. Camp fees include a T-shirt and weekly field trip. The camp is staffed with qualified personnel who develop and coordinate activities/games and supervise the camps.

 

Camp meets from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and runs in one-week sessions. Rise and Shine and Sunsetters Camps are extended camps that are available before and after our normal camp hours. Registration is available only in person at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road. LEARN HOW TO REGISTER.

2016 Rec-Plex Summer Sports Camps

 

 

St. Peters Rec-Plex Sports Camps offer kids a chance to play their favorite sport and also enjoy other Rec-Plex activities, such as swimming and ice skating, and fun outdoors in City Centre Park. Camp fees include a T-Shirt and weekly field trip. Campers play in their own age group, for a chance to meet new friends. Rise and Shine and Sunsetters before and after camps are available. Limited openings are available so sign up early! Registration is available only in person at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road.

 

Baseball Camp, Ages 7-12, $141/week

Oil your gloves and join us for fun on the diamond. Campers will enjoy America's pastime as they hit, field, throw and scrimmage against each other.

 

Basketball Camp, Ages 7-12, $141/week
Here’s a slam dunk for summer fun: If your child loves basketball, this camp will build up skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive/offensive positioning.

 

Flag Football Camp, Ages 7-12, $141/week
Campers are you ready for some football? Your child will work on passing, receiving, defensive/offensive plays, and get an overall understanding of flag football.

 

Soccer Camp, Ages 7-12, $141/week
Campers will sharpen their soccer skills while playing the game they love. Your child will work on dribbling, passing, shooting, defensive posturing and attacking skills.

 

Volleyball Camp, Ages 7-12, $141/week

Bump, set, spike, have fun! Your child will learn the fundamentals of volleyball on our indoor courts.

 

Pickleball Camp, Ages 7-12, $141/week

This new indoor paddle sport offers a mix of tennis, badminton and ping pong—fun for all abilities! Learn more about Pickleball.

 

NEW! Dance Camp, Ages 7-12, $141/week

Try Dance--learn some fun moves and feel the music!

 

Rink Rats Summer Hockey Camp, Ages 7-12, $193/week
Rink Rats will get up to four hours of ice time per day. We’ll develop agility, balance, speed and teamwork, plus have fun playing different mini-games and drills. Campers must have basic hockey experience and full equipment is required to participate.

 

Summer Figure Skating Camp, Ages 6-12, $193/week
Skaters will develop skating skills, plus get an introduction to ice dancing, synchronized skating and choreography while building up cardio fitness. Camp is for Alpha through Freestyle 5 skaters. Campers will enjoy up to three hours of ice time per day.

Summer Camp Registration

 

  • REGISTRATION FOR ART EXPERIENCE CAMP, IT'S ALL ABOUT CLAY CAMP, FENCING CAMP AND THEATRE CAMP IS AVAILABLE IN-PERSON ONLY AT THE REC-PLEX, 5200 Mexico Road. 
    • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. There are a limited number of openings for each session.
    • All camp registration packet and authorization sheets must be filled out and all sessions must be paid in full at the time of registration.
    • Registration must be completed NO LATER than 7 p.m. on the Tuesday the week before camp.
    • Call 636-397-6903, ext. 1624, for more information about these camps.

  • ST. PETERS REC-PLEX REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE IN-PERSON ONLY AT THE ST. PETERS REC-PLEX, 5200 Mexico Rd. Preregistration is required for all St. Peters Summer Camps. See some quick rules below:
    • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. We have a limited number of spaces for each session.
    • All camp sessions must be paid in full at the time of registration.
    • Registration is required by 7 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to camp. Pending availability, late registrations may be accepted Thursday through Saturday prior to camp for an additional $15 late fee or during the week of camp for a $25 late fee. Registration is not available on Sunday.
    • All registrations must be made in person at the Rec-Plex. Online registration is not available.
    • Camp registration and authorization forms must be completed at time of registration.
    • If special arrangements need to be made for your child, it must be done in writing at the time of registration. 
    • Programming sheets will be posted online showing more specific activities for your children in the week prior to attending camp.

LUNCH POLICY: For lunchtime, there are two options for Rec-Plex campers. You can purchase a meal at the Rec-Plex or send lunch with your child. Either way, please send two snacks with your child. Art Experience Campers should bring their lunch every day. Full-day campers should come with two snacks each day. Please use a small lunch bag, because space is limited. Keep in mind that we do not refrigerate food, but we will keep the food indoors out of the heat.
