Field Trips

The St. Peters Rec-Plex is a popular destination for school field trips. Kids love our pools, ice skating rink and basketball gym. Call 636.939.2386, ext. 1400, to check the availability of the Rec-Plex and specific facilities (Pool, Ice Rink, Gym and Food Court*).

Hope to see you soon!

RULES AND PROCEDURES

We encourage you to schedule your event as soon as possible. Our staff will make every effort to accommodate your request. The months of April, May and the first couple weeks of June are in very high demand. When making your decision to use our facility please follow this procedure:

Provide the following information at time of call:

  • Approximate size of group and ages.
  • Method of payment (whether check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or cash). Please designate one adult to collect money for admissions and skate rentals.  Schools, organizations and groups can pre-pay for admissions, skate rentals and box lunches. This speeds up the check-in process, getting the visitors in the building and to the activities much quicker!
  • Student-to-supervisor ratio estimate. Supervisors are asked to actively monitor their students while using the Rec-Plex. We request a supervisor for every 10 students.
  • Identify the person who will be responsible for group check-in, payment at front desk, and for unloading and pickup of students.

Once your date is selected, a staff member will ask you a few more questions to complete a field trip form that will be faxed to you for your information and review.

On the day that you visit, all students should remain on the bus while the school representative comes into the admissions area to complete the check-in process. A Rec-Plex representative will greet the students on each bus to provide them with the information they will need to ensure a fun and memorable visit.

Once the students have been greeted on the bus, they will be released from each bus in two groups: 1) Kids who are not ice skating are released first. 2) Kids who have pre-paid to skate will be given skate tickets and directed to the rink. If the skate rental was not collected by the school/organization, the students will need to line up and pay the $3.00 rental fee for their tickets. This takes precious time from their time on the rink! Please advise those students to bring exact change. To give the children the maximum amount of time to ice skate, it is suggested to collect the money for skate rental prior to your visit, and paying in one lump sum.

Bus drivers are asked to park in the rear parking lot, Rec-Plex South, once the buses are unloaded.

Some other helpful hints:

  • Remind students to bring well marked basketballs and their own locks to secure belongings. Basketballs and locks can be rented for $1.00 each when a teacher's or administrator's valid driver's license is held at the front desk. Students are responsible for these items so they must be turned in before the teacher's ID is returned.
  • Remind students to only bring what they need; anything extra may easily be lost and not found until after they have left our facility. Unclaimed items are donated to a charitable organization.
  • To assist with lunch arrangements please contact Linda Hofmeister at 636.939.2386, ext. 1632. All box lunch and Food Court arrangements need to be made at least two weeks prior to your field trip date. DOWNLOAD A BOX LUNCH FORM (pdf format).

IMPORTANT: Teachers and chaperones must be stationed through the building, including locker rooms and hallways. Please do not congregate in the Food Court.

*The cardio room, weight room, indoor track, all classrooms, and adult locker rooms are excluded from use by field trips.
