Swimming

 

The Rec-Plex Natatorium is an Olympic-quality facility able to accommodate learn-to-swim classes, competitive swimming, private instruction, and large swim meets. St. Peters' three outdoor pools also offer seasonal swim teams.

 

LEARN TO SWIM: The St. Peters Rec-Plex offers swim classes to teach people, from young children up to adults, how to be safe in and around the water. The Rec-Plex program also teaches skills and knowledge in a logical progression to help you develop as a swimmer. PRIVATE INSTRUCTION: Private Swim Lessons are also available at the Rec-Plex on a request basis. Get 30 minutes of instruction per session one-on-one with a swim instructor. Private Swim Lessons are available for purchase in-person only at the Rec-Plex. We do not guarantee that your request will be filled. FILL OUT AN ONLINE REQUEST FOR PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS. COMPETITIVE SWIMMING: The Rec-Plex Sharks U.S.A. Swim Team is the area's premier swimming team in the area's premier indoor swimming facility. Affiliated with United States Swimming, the Sharks stress technique and skill to ensure you improve as a swimmer. Sharks swimmers have opportunities to compete in meets around the metropolitan area and surrounding region. LEARN MORE AT THE SHARKS' SITE.

 

OUTDOOR SWIM TEAMS: St. Peters offers outdoor swim teams for ages 6-18 when our outdoor pools open in the summer. Teams compete in weekly meets against other teams in the St. Charles County Summer Swim League. LEARN MORE.

Diving


DIVING INSTRUCTION: The St. Louis Dive Club and St. Peters Rec-Plex offer professional instruction in the art of springboard and platform diving to a wide range of levels, from lessons for absolute beginners to a national level program for dedicated athletes. Learn from U.S. Diving Safety-certified staff from the St. Louis Dive Club, which is a registered U.S. Diving program. When you enroll in our program, you'll enjoy exceptional coaching, world-class facilities and the thrill of of learning to "fly."

DIVING FACILITIES: When it comes to diving, the Rec-Plex Natatorium is one of the nation's premier facilities, regularly hosting area and regional diving events plus serving as host to such prestigious events as the nationally televised 2004 U.S. Olympic Diving-Team Trials, 2000 U.S.A. Olympic Diving Team Tour, the 1999 U.S. Diving West National Championships and 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival.

 

PUBLIC HOURS: The 1-meter springboard and 3-meter diving platform are open to the public at various times, unless closed for an event. CHECK OUT THE PUBLIC HOURS FOR DIVING.

Scuba Diving

 

The St. Peters Rec-Plex has partnered with Aloha Y-Kiki Divers to offer Scuba classes throughout the year. Scuba (Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) is your gateway to an adventure of a lifetime that can take you to some of the most exotic and breathtaking destinations on the planet. Anyone who is reasonably healthy, comfortable in the water, and can pass a basic swim test can be a safe, confident diver.

Ice Skating


CLASSES: Instructors at the St. Peters Rec-Plex teach skills developed by the Ice Skating Institute (ISI), a leading national ice industry trade association. Classes can teach you to skate or to improve your skills in figure skating. Students also have an opportunity to perform during Rec-Plex ice shows (holiday and spring events).


SYNCHRO: Synchronized skating classes also are available. Learn the thrill of skating with a team and moving on the ice to music. Each team works toward performing in skating competitions.

ST. PETERS FIGURE SKATING ASSOCIATION: The Rec-Plex is the home rink for the St. Peters Figure Skating Association. LEARN MORE ABOUT THE FIGURE SKATING ASSOCIATION.


PUBLIC ICE SKATING SESSIONS: The Rec-Plex offers regular ice skating sessions for customers. CHECK HOURS. And, check out DJ Skate on select Friday nights.

Hockey Programs

 

HOCKEY CLASSES: The St. Peters Rec-Plex offers a variety of hockey instruction. Classes may include hockey skating for youth, hockey skating for adults, hockey camps, summer hockey league and more. ADULT DROP-IN HOCKEY is available at the Rec-Plex north rink at different times throughout the week. Ages 18 and over are welcome to play. CHECK THE REC-PLEX HOURS OF OPERATION for drop-in times. Check the Leisure Line for latest fees and information.


FREE LEARN TO PLAY ICE HOCKEY PROGRAM: Children ages 4-8 have a chance to learn ice hockey for FREE at the St. Peters Rec-Plex with a series of fun instructional classes beginning the evening of Monday, June 4, 2012. LEARN MORE.

 

PUCKFEST HOCKEY TOURNAMENT: Hockey tournament for adults ages 18 and up at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, June 29-July 1, 2012, and July 20-22, 2012. Learn more at www.puckfest.com.

 

PARENT AND CHILD STICK N' PUCK:

Get on the ice with your kids to practice hockey during Stick 'n Puck open play periods in Rec-Plex South. Children wear full equipment; parent wears skates, gloves and helmet. Tickets are available for purchase at the food service counter. The fee is $7.00/ticket during May 2012.

 

  • Tuesday-May 8, 15, 22, 29 - 5:30-6:30 p.m. - Parent and/or Child Stick n' Puck; Pee-Wee & Bantam level ($7/person)
  • Thursday-May 10, 17, 24, 31 - 5:45-6:45 p.m. - Parent and Child Stick n' Puck; ADM & Squirt level ($7/person)

PIZZA DEAL: During Tuesdays & Thursdays in May, purchase a whole pizza for $9.00 and get a pitcher of soda free. While supplies last.

 

HOCKEY CAMPS:

Personal Training


You have a goal: Get your body in better shape, or go to the next level of fitness. Where to start? The Rec-Plex has nationally certified personal trainers who know how to help you get the best results out of your workout. They can lead you on your quest to gain energy, increase endurance and strength, lose weight or sculpt your body, and just feel better about yourself. We even offer reconditioning to help you recover from injury. You can get help no matter your age or your current condition. You also have the option of reducing the cost by working together with a friend in training sessions.

Performance Training


DynaForm Performance Training programs are one-on-one performance training sessions, one hour in duration, completed with a degreed and highly trained exercise scientist. Each customized program is based in sound scientific research and is designed for your specific goals, needs and abilities:

 

  • The Athletic Development program encompasses sport-specific training for all ages, sports and abilities.
  • G Fit is a general fitness program designed for individuals who are already in shape but looking to take their workouts to the next level.
  • Peak Composition Development is a program for people looking to improve their health, physical appearance and overall quality of life.

Class Registration Options

 

In addition to Rec-Connect online registration, the Rec-Plex also offers registration by phone, by mail and in person at the Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road. Call us at 636.939.2386, ext. 1400, during open registration desk hours (see below). Registration applications can be mailed to the City of St. Peters, P.O. Box 9, Attn. Program Registration (please do not send cash). Telephone and mail-in registrants must come to the Rec-Plex and pick up the program registration receipt prior to the program's beginning date.

Registration Desk Hours

 

The St. Peters Rec-Plex registration desk is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The desk is closed on Sundays, and also on City Holidays. If the City holiday is on a Friday, the desk will also be closed the following day, Saturday.

 

Rec-Connect online registration is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
