St. Peters to Begin New Appliance Recycling Program July 1

The City of St. Peters is changing the way residential trash customers can dispose of major appliances.

Beginning July 1, St. Peters residential trash customers will no longer be required to make a trip to City Hall or Recycle City to purchase “White Goods” tags for appliance disposal. All the customer will need to do is call 636-970-1456 and choose option #1 to make an appointment for collection.

The cost for curbside major appliance pick-up is $15. This charge will be placed on the customer’s utility bill. The charge will appear in the following billing cycle so customers should be aware that it could be two to three months before the charge appears on their bill.

Customers who have unused “White Goods” tags have until the end of 2014 to use them. Customers should let City staff know that they have a “White Goods” tag when they call to make arrangements for pick-up. City staff will instruct them on what to do.

Major appliances that DO NOT contain FREON such as washing machines, dryers, water heaters, etc. may be placed at the curb at no additional charge on a regularly scheduled quarterly bulky trash pickup. Call 636-970-1456 and choose option #1 to arrange for bulky trash pickup or schedule online at www.stpetersmo.net.

Major appliances may also be dropped off at Recycle City. There is a $15 disposal fee for FREON-based appliance such as a refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, dehumidifier, etc. Appliances that are not FREON-based may be dropped off at no charge.
