St. Peters Health Department is located at Recycle City. The Health Department is responsible for investigating any nuisances, such as:

Illegal Dumping

Illegal dumping is dumping of any waste upon any public right-of-way, City property or private property, without consent of the owner.

Trash that is commonly dumped includes: Tires, old furniture, household garbage, construction debris, appliances, yard waste, and hazardous waste generally dumped in drums or barrels.

 

If you see someone illegally dumping:

 

  • Get the license plate number
  • Get a description of the vehicle
  • Make a note of what is being dumped


If the material is hazardous waste, call 911 immediately.  If the material is trash, call 636-278-2244 or 636-477-6600, ext. 1410.

Noise/Odor

If you smell an offensive odor or hear excessive noise, call either 636-278-2244 or 636-477-6600 at ext. 1265 to file a concern and the Health Department will investigate.

What constitutes excessive noise?


  • Any continuing noises that emits a noise level of 93db. or more.
  • The keeping of any animal or bird, by causing frequent or loud-continued noise, shall disturb the comfort and repose of any person in the vicinity.
  • Commercial trash collection before 6 a.m. in areas adjacent to a residential home.
  • Per our Animal Control Ordinance: No owner shall fail to exercise proper care and control of his or her animals to prevent them from becoming a public nuisance. Public Nuisance includes molesting passersby or passing vehicles, attacking other animals, trespassing on school grounds, damaging private or public property, or barking, whining or howling in excessive, continuous or untimely fashion.

On-Site Sewage Investigation

On-site investigations are made when raw sewage is detected on any property. The investigation will determine if the matter is a public nuisance.
