A building permit ensures that your project is structurally sound, properly installed and complies with the building and zoning codes. Most importantly, it is to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all our residents.
Permits are required but not limited to new construction, additions, structural alterations, remodeling, demolition, and any other miscellaneous construction.
Note: while a permit may not be required, City, State or Federal regulations may still apply to the project. Contact the Building Department with specific details on your project to determine what permits are required. Please contact the Planning Deparment for fence and sign requirements.
You can apply for a permit at the building department located in city hall. Fill out an application there or you can print one from the Forms and Applications section of this site and bring it with you already completed. You will need to submit two (2) sets of plans and a site plan with your application. For more information please visit the Building Guides and Forms and Applications sections on this site or contact our department at (636) 477-6600 ext. 1670.
