Here is a breakdown of the activities during the Rec-Plex Fitness Fest on Jan. 9:
• Enjoy FREE admission to the St. Peters Rec-Plex from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come for FREE ice skating (12:30-3 p.m.), swimming (noon-3 p.m.), volleyball (9 a.m.-noon), basketball (noon-3 p.m.), fitness facilities (9 a.m.-3 p.m.), fitness classes and more. SEE FULL SCHEDULE BELOW.
• Try a number of FREE group fitness classes, RPX Cycling classes, NEW kettle bell classes, belly dancing classes and more. SEE SCHEDULE BELOW.
• All newly registered Rec-Plex annual passholders will get a 13th month for FREE. This offer includes new GOLD PLUS members. GOLD PLUS members get all the benefits of a Rec-Plex member PLUS can take advantage of FREE select classes and programs, FREE RPX Cycling, 50% off golf at St. Peters Golf Course, FREE Tot Drop babysitting, and FREE ice skate rentals. • Fitness assessments FREE to Rec-Plex passholders and $25 for the general public. Personal trainers will put you through some physical tests—1-mile walk/run, blood pressure, flexibility and body fat composition—to help you set goals for yourself this coming year. Advance registration is required. Call 636.939.2386, ext. 1400.
• Cholesterol screenings for just $5. Adults can drop by the Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital booth between 9 a.m.-noon for tests of total cholesterol and HDL levels. A 10-hour fast is recommended, but not required. No registration is necessary.
During the Rec-Plex Fitness Fest, your kids can enjoy the large heated family leisure pool, with its water play features, large whirlpool and 130-foot waterslide. The leisure pool will be open free from noon-3 p.m. A second pool has swimming lanes for adults as well as a spa and sauna.
The entire family can ice skate from 12:30-3 p.m. at the Rec-Plex’s NHL-size ice arena. The gym also will be open to all visitors for volleyball (9 a.m.-noon) and basketball (noon-3 p.m.)
Fitness areas with state-of-the-art cardio equipment and strength training machines and weights, plus the walking track, will open to anyone age 16 or up from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Adults can try out the adults-only locker rooms with steam and sauna.
