St. Peters relies on our residents to volunteer their time and energy serving on boards, commissions and committees. Their valuable insight and advice help the city make important decisions about various issues and events. Citizen boards, committees and commissions play a crucial role in representative government. Please note that some boards meet monthly and others meet periodically. You can find agendas, minutes and information about these citizen boards below.
St. Peters residents who are interested in serving on a municipal advisory board may find more information at City Hall, One St. Peters Centre Blvd. You can ask for applications at the City Hall front desk or print out and complete the application found here online. Qualified applicants must have resided in St. Peters for at least one year.
The elected Mayor and Board of Aldermen review applications to fill advisory board vacancies, or to establish a new board, commission or committee. The Mayor may receive recommendations for appointments from the Board of Aldermen, the respective board, commission or committee, or citizens at large. Appointments are formally made by the Mayor with the approval of the Board of Aldermen at a Board of Aldermen meeting. The St. Peters Board of Adjustment hears and rules on appeals or variances from the ordinances that provide for the establishment of zoning and regulates land use in the City.An appeal for an interpretation of the zoning regulations of the City or a request for a variance in the dimensional requirements of the zoning regulations whereby their strict application would involve undue hardship are the two (2) types of requests which may be placed before the Board of Adjustment.A decision of the Board may be appealed by petition to the Circuit Court of St. Charles County.
The Board, established under the provisions of the City’s zoning and subdivision regulations as authorized by State law, is composed of five (5) members and three (3) alternate members. The members are volunteer residents, appointed for a term of five years each with an anniversary date of June 1 each year.
Regular meetings are held at call of the Chairman, pending the filing of an appeal or a variance.When required, the meeting is held on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. (The City is represented by the Zoning Department.)
The St. Peters Board of Aldermen is the City's elected, legislative body. The Board considers and enacts ordinances and resolutions, levies municipal taxes, approves zoning changes and record plats, determines the budget and a five-year list of recommended capital improvements, and sets policy for the City. The City is divided into four wards, with two Aldermen representing each ward for staggered four-year terms. Non-partisan municipal elections are held in April. Each Alderman is a resident of the ward of the City that he or she is elected to represent.
The Board of Aldermen meets regularly at City Hall on the second and fourth Thursdays for the months of January through October, and on the third Thursday in November and the third Thursday in December. Work sessions begin at 5 p.m. and are followed by the regular Board of Aldermen meetings at 7 p.m. You can also find meetings on the City of St. Peters' online calendar.
The Mayor or a majority of the Board as provided by City ordinances may call special meetings. The Board of Aldermen may meet in executive sessions, work sessions and ward meetings in accordance with the procedures and provisions of State law.

The Golf Citizens Monitoring Committeemonitors the St. Peters Golf Course, 200 Salt Lick Road.
The Committee is composed of eight (8) volunteer members, residents serving for an indefinite term.
Regular meetings are held at the call of the Chairman, and are normally scheduled at the St. Peters Golf Course Clubhouse on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 4:15 p.m. during Golf season (generally February through October).
Green Environmental and Solid Waste Issues Advisory Committee The City of St. Peters Green Environmental and Solid Waste Issues Advisory Committee was established to advise the St. Peters elected officials and staff on energy and environmental issues, and assist in efforts to inform and educate the St. Peters community on the wise use of natural resources, sustainable energy use, new recycling opportunities, and other pertinent green environmental matters.
The Advisory Board is composed of 7 persons with expertise and/or an interest in environmental issues. Two of the members are not required to reside within the corporate city limits of St. Peters if those persons possess special expertise deemed essential or desirable on the Advisory Committee.
Initially, the Advisory Committee shall meet no less than once a month or on-call of the chairman.Thereafter, the committee will meet on an as needed basis.
Regular meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m. at St. Peters City Hall Community Conference Room.
Alderman Tommy Roberts serves as the Aldermanic Liaison to the Green Environmental and Solid Waste Issues Advisory Committee.
Outpatient Surgical Treatment Center Medical Review Board
The Outpatient Surgical Treatment Center Medical Review Board makes certain medical judgments basically concerning equipment and surgical procedures in review of license applications for an outpatient surgical treatment center business license.
The Board is composed of six (6) members, reflecting specialized interests and medical expertise, appointed for a term of three years with an anniversary date of April 30.
Regular meetings are held at the call of the Chairman, normally upon the filing of a business license application to the City.
Alderman Don Aytes serves as the Aldermanic Liaison to the Outpatient Surgical Treatment Center Medical Review Board.
The Parks, Recreation and Arts Advisory Boardis composed of volunteer residents and operates as a public interface between City residents and City officials to advise, recommend and assist, where possible, in matters concerning parks, recreation and cultural arts within the City.This Board also strives to establish a good working relationship with civic organizations and service groups to promote and assist in establishing a balanced park and recreation system that will benefit residents of St. Peters of all ages.
This Board is composed of nine members, appointed for a three-year term with an anniversary date of January 31.In addition, there are two youth representatives, each appointed for a one-year term with an anniversary date of February 1.
Regular meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the St. Peters Senior Center, (except for the month of December which is determined at the November monthly meeting). The Senior Center is located at 108 McMenamy Road.
Alderman Gus Elliott serves as the Aldermanic Liaison to the Parks, Recreation & Arts Advisory Board.
The Planning & Zoning Commissionmakes, adopts, and amends, if necessary, a City plan for the physical development of the City.The Commission shall also prepare a zoning plan for the regulation of the height, area, bulk, location and use of private, non-profit and public structures and premises and population density.The Commission approves home-based businesses and checks proposed developments for compliance with all other applicable regulations.The Commission makes recommendations and reports relating to the City’s comprehensive plan and development of the City, regulations governing the subdivision of land within St. Peters and changes in regulations, restrictions and boundaries of the City.
The Commission, established under the provisions of the City’s ordinances as authorized by State law, is composed of 10 citizen members, the City Engineer, the Mayor and a member of the Board of Aldermen selected by the Board of Aldermen annually.The citizen members are volunteer residents, appointed for a term of four years each with an anniversary date of September 30 each year.
Regular meetings of the Commission are held on the first Wednesday of every month.SPTV, the City’s Cable Government Access Channel, regularly televises the Commission’s meetings.
The Senior Advisory Committee was formed to review and analyze a full range of traditional and future policy issues concerning residents 60 years old and above. The Committee assists City officials in making decisions regarding the City’s service responsibilities to our seniors.
The Committee is composed of twelve (12) volunteer members, residents 60 years of age or older. Each member serves for a two-year term following the initial term of appointment.
Regular meetings are held at the call of the Chairman, and are normally scheduled monthly at the St. Peters Senior Center on the third Thursday of the month at 2 p.m.
The St. Peters Youth Leadership Council operates as a public interface between City youth and City officials. The Council’s goals include identifying concerns of the community’s youth and to advise, suggest and make recommendations for projects and programs in promoting public awareness and availability of youth programs and related events of interest to our city youth.
Mission Statement: The St. Peters Youth Leadership Council was created to give a voice to the youth of St. Peters by bridging the gap between the youth and local government. Through gaining an understanding of the basic elements of how a city runs, we will set the goals and ambitions of generations to come.
Membership on this council counts toward community service required by some schools and clubs.
Opportunities for Council members include, but are not limited to, functioning as a direct interface with the community with the perspective of a youth to establish and maintain a good working relationship with governmental entities, residents and civic organizations within our community which are, or which would like to be, active in youth programs and activities. The council hopes to engage with and learn the basic elements of how a city is organized and run. Thus, the Council fosters and supports youth organizations and clubs that provide leadership and organizational structure for both youth programs and events in our community.
The Youth Leadership Council consists of up to 16 members who are residents of the City and are actively enrolled in grades 7-12, through age 19. Members shall be appointed for a term of one year with an anniversary date of July 1 each year, and who continue to serve in such capacity until their successor is appointed and qualified by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. Membership applications are accepted year-round.
Regular meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday at 6 p.m. Meeting locations vary.

TIF Commission exercises powers set forth by State law concerning tax increment finance (TIF) districts for the designation of redevelopment areas and amendments thereto with respect to the redevelopment of areas in the City found to be blighted areas, conservation areas and/or economic development areas as defined by State law.
The Commission, established under the provisions of the City’s ordinances as authorized by State law, is composed of a minimum of nine (9) persons: two members appointed by the Boards of Education whose districts are included within a redevelopment plan or redevelopment area; one member appointed by the affected districts, to represent all other districts levying ad valorem taxes within the area selected for a redevelopment project or the redevelopment area, excluding representatives of the Board of Aldermen of the City; and six citizen members appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
The Commissioners appointed by the Mayor may not then be serving by appointment on any other public board or commission of the City.Members are designated to serve on the Commission for a term of four years.
The City has established the following TIF Commissions:
OLD TOWN LEVEE TIF COMMISSION exercises the powers as provided by State law and City ordinances for a TIF Commission for the redevelopment area designated as Old Town Levee.
ST. PETERS CENTRE TIF COMMISSION exercises the powers as provided by State law and City ordinances for a TIF Commission for the redevelopment area designated as St. Peters Centre.
ST. PETERS ROUTE 370 TIF COMMISSION exercises the powers as provided by State law and City ordinances for a TIF Commission for the redevelopment area designated as the St. Peters Route 370.
Regular meetings of the TIF Commissions are held annually and as required at City Hall, upon the call of the Chairman.
The Veterans Memorial Commissionis composed of volunteer residents and operates as a public interface between City residents and City officials to explore ways in which to honor area veterans and to make recommendations for the preservation and upkeep of the Veteran’s Memorial.The Commission also plans and coordinates appropriate events throughout the year to honor our veterans and encourage citizen involvement in improvements to the Veteran’s Memorial.
The Commission consists of eleven (11) resident members, comprised of an appointed Chairperson, two members from each ward and two additional members-at-large. In addition, one youth representative serves as a non-voting member. The commission has a minimum six members who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Members are appointed to serve for a term of two years.
Regular meetings are held, as needed, on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
