JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides supervision of staff including: orientation, training, scheduling and evaluation. Responsible for recommendations concerning hiring and terminations. Assists in budget preparation, monitors that work activities and purchases are within budget and prepares related documents. Assists in developing and determining administrative policies, regulatory actions and capital purchases. Reviews and responds to customer/resident inquiries, concerns and complaints. Assists in the planning and design of improvements to the Water Plant, Wastewater Plant and Composting Operations. Coordinates, monitors and personally participates in the daily operations of the Water and Wastewater Plants and Composting Operations including: telemetry controls, motors, pumps, UV disinfection, belt filter presses, process and data collection equipment. Monitors water, wastewater, composting system operations to ensure adherence to all City, State and Federal regulations. Responds to emergency situations as required or in accordance with emergency operations plan. Occasionally operates heavy construction equipment. Performs all work in compliance with established City safety standards. Performs other work as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
High School graduate or GED certificate and four (4) years experience as a lead operator or equivalent.
Must have Class “A” licenses in water and wastewater valid in the state of Missouri, or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
Ability to frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.
Must possess a Class “B” CDL, or able to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database computer application programs.
Confined Space Entry Certification within one (1) year.
Completion of city Supervisory Course or obtain within one (1) year.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree in related field of study.
Considerable supervisory skills.
Considerable skill in planning and organizing jobs and work schedules.
A working knowledge of federal, state and local statutes and regulations for water, wastewater, pretreatment, and biosolids composting.
RATE: $32.10/hr. ($66,768.00/Annual)

SUMMER INTERNS

TEMPORARY POSITIONS: To work approximately 40 hours per week through the summer
POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
PUBLIC WORKS: Active participation in a one or two person field team inspecting sanitary sewer, water distribution and storm water, utility locates, street pavement and sidewalk infrastructure. Will assist with materials testing and inspections for various road and traffic signal projects. All inspections will be done from ground surface. Will assist with updating and preparing infrastructure maps using Graphical Information System (GIS) software and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) unit. Office work will include data entry of field survey information into a Microsoft Office Access database.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
A Motor Vehicle Operator’s license valid in the state of Missouri.
Ability to carry a 5 to 7 pound GPS backpack for several hours.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of surveying, mapping, Access database and material testing practices.
Second or third year engineering student.

CITY OF ST. PETERS RESIDENT YOUTH—2012
Temporary positions. Some positions require working weekdays, after school, and school breaks, continuing through the summer. Other positions require summer help only.
POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
CLERICAL #14000: Salary $7.25/hr.
Resident Youth-Clerical, ages 16 to 23
Positions may include filing, copying, answering phones, data entry, mail, use of cash register, customer service, and other tasks as required.
LABORER #14001: Salary range $7.68/hr. to $8.00/hr.
Resident Youth-Laborers, ages 18 to 23
Positions may include assisting with facility and vehicle maintenance, basic clean up, painting, light manual labor, cleaning of equipment, care of grounds, and other tasks as required.
Parks Department: Resident Youth-Laborers to work on athletic fields, grounds maintenance, right-of-way mowing, park clean-up or building and pool maintenance.
Solid Waste Collection: Resident Youth-Laborers. Hours 6 AM till 2 PM and generally working outdoors, Monday through Friday. Knowledge of City streets helpful. Will work with department staff and/or other Resident Youth. Assists with weekly yard waste collection on Mondays and Wednesdays. Deliver, pickup and clean solid waste carts and assist with oversize item collection.

A resident of the City of St. Peters between the ages of 16 and 23 (Laborers 18-23).
Some positions may require a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

Rate of pay: $7.25/hr.

Instructor participates in a variety of fitness programs and assists in developing new programs. Must have ability to establish and maintain working relationship with the public and staff. Lifeguards (Seasonal and Year-Round)
The St. Peters Rec-Plex is looking for Lifeguards who are interested in working part-time. We have immediate openings morning and daytime hours between the hours of 5:30 am and 3:30 pm. We are also looking to hire lifeguards for all shifts during the summer. Training available if needed. Lifeguards are responsible for customer safety and enjoyment while using our aquatic facilities. Salary: $7.25/hr. plus shift premium of 50 cents for daytime hours Monday through Friday 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM between Labor Day and Memorial Day.

The St. Peters Rec-Plex is looking for Swim Instructors who are interested in working part-time. We have immediate openings for all levels of swim lessons. Experience preferred or WSI (Water Safety Instructor) preferred but not mandatory.Responsible for helping all ages progress through all levels of swimming in an aquatic environment. Salary: $8.10/hr.
