Preparing and Scheduling a Bulky Pickup

Preparation and scheduling of a bulky pickup consists of four steps:

  • Check the Bulky Collection Schedule. Click here to see when your subdivision is scheduled for bulky trash pickup. If you do not have a subdivision name, check for the street name.
  • Determine what you want picked up. Keep in mind that tires, paints, liquids, car batteries or anything hazardous are not allowed. Items longer than 8 feet are not accepted. Only hot water heaters and stoves are acceptable. Other white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, washers, dryers, furnaces, and dishwashers can only be picked up on White Goods Monday for a fee. The entire pickup cannot be greater than what would fill one back of a pick-up truck bed.
  • Prepare your items:
      • Stoves – latched doors should be removed.
      • Glass Doors/Windows – Make a big "X" from corner to corner across the glass with duct tape. Place the glass in front of or on top of all other items so the driver can definitely see that there is glass to be picked up. This prevents the glass being shattered on the lawn or driveway.
      • Lawn Mowers – Drain gasoline and oil.
      • Brush/Limbs – Place in a separate pile from all other items because a separate truck picks them up after everything else is picked up. If any of the limbs are bigger than 6 inches in diameter, they need to be put in a separate pile from the smaller pieces. No brush/limbs can be any longer than 8 feet.
      • Items must be at the curb no later than 6:30 a.m. the day of the pickup, and no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before the pickup. Everything must be placed a minimum of 3 to 4 feet away from any obstructions such as cars, mailboxes, or trees so the automatic arm has room to maneuver safely when picking up your items.
  • Schedule your bulky pickup. All bulky pickups must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance of the pickup date. Call the Solid Waste office at 636.970.1456 OR click here to schedule a bulky pickup online.

Off-Schedule Bulky Pickups

If you have items you want to dispose of immediately or do not want to wait until your scheduled bulky pickup, you have two options:

  • Bring your bulky items to Recycle City at 131 Ecology Drive. There is a charge for this service See Walk-ins. Hours are Monday through Friday (7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) and Saturday (8 a.m.-2 p.m.).
  • Schedule a fee-based, Friday off-schedule bulky pick-up. The cost is a minimum of $50 for up to four cubic yards of bulky. Four yards is equivalent to what will fit in the back of a large pick-up truck bed. The fee will be added to your utility bill. Schedule no later than Thursday at noon to have pick up on Friday by calling 636.970.1456 OR click here to schedule online.

Appliance Haul-Away (White Goods Monday)

White goods are large appliances (see the list below). The City of St. Peters has contracted with a private hauler for White Goods Monday to provide more frequent pickups and to help keep our residents’ solid waste bills as low as possible.

To participate in White Goods Monday, residents should do the following:

  • Purchase a $15 tag from City Hall or Recycle City. Cash or check is acceptable or you can have the amount added to your water/sewer bill. You may also call 636.970.1456 to order a tag(s) to be mailed to your home. Please call at least one (1) week in advance to allow for mailing time. The amount will be billed to your water/sewer bill.
  • After you purchase the tags, call 636.970.1456 before 11 a.m. on Friday to schedule a pickup for the following Monday.
  • Attach the tag(s) on the appliance(s) so the tag can be easily seen.
  • Place the appliance(s) at curbside by 6:30am Monday or after 6pm on the Sunday before pickup. All latched doors must be removed.
