The City is in the process of updating its building codes to the 2009 International Building Code. The city is currently operating under the 2006 IBC. One of the goals in updating to the 2009 code is to support a county-wide effort for all municipalities and the County to adopt the 2009 IBC for consistency in building code standards.  The City’s first step will be to adopt the Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings.  The city plans to adopt this by Ordinance at the Feb. 24, 2011 meeting.

Review of the City’s proposed 2009 International Residential Code has included a varied group of stakeholders including, but not limited to, builders, engineers, architects, building code officials, fire service representatives, utility representatives and various sub-contractor building construction/trade groups.
