Learn about St. Louis’ Ties to Shoes, Booze and Baseball

March 1, 2017
No matter which team you root for, if you love baseball history, you won’t want to miss this fun day trip on Monday, May 15. Come with us to Lafayette Park, site of the first baseball diamond in St. Louis, and drive by the sites of the St. Louis major league baseball stadiums. We’ll make a photo stop at the site of old Sportsman’s Park, once the home field for both the Cardinals and the Browns.
We’ll also have a chance to pay homage to one of the fastest man ever to play the game of baseball when we visit the James “Cool Papa” Bell monument in St. Peter’s Cemetery, memorializing the Negro league star and Baseball Hall of Famer. We’ll then stop at the Brown Shoe World Headquarters to take a photo opportunity with the “big shoe.”

Enjoy lunch and beer tasting at St. Louis’ Schlafly Bottleworks before heading Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals. See the private clubs and press box; sit in the Cardinals dugout. Then walk across the street to visit the new Cardinals Hall of Fame/Museum in Ballpark Village.

The bus departs from the west parking lot of St. Peters City Hall, One St. Peters Centre Blvd. at 8:30 a.m. and returns at approximately 4:30 p.m. This tour involves a lot of walking. The cost is $94 and includes transportation, lunch, admissions, and gratuities.
