Art Interpreted--a collaboration between the art of youth and adults
Children’s art has inspired parents, grandparents, caregivers and others for ages. Their focus is far and wide – from round circles with dots for eyes to horses to rainbows. No matter what they create, our youth will be the inspiration for this exhibit.
Art Interpreted is a show made possible through a grant by Target. Children first created works of art, then adults selected the work of art that inspired them and reinterpreted the piece with their own concept. On occasion, more than one adult was inspired by a child's piece of artwork. Stop by the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre to see the pieces hanging side-by-side in exhibit. Click here to download a pdf file showing the children's artwork and the adult pieces they inspired.
Target has awarded St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre with a grant to fund Art Interpreted--a collaboration between the art of youth and adults.

Beethoven Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67. Is it a picture in red...or black...or blue...or many colors? That is what students from throughout the region have been asked to figure out. The answers can be found at St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre April 19-28.
The St. Louis Symphony Volunteer Association has invited Kindergarten through Grade 6 teachers from throughout the region to have their students listen to a specific selection of symphonic music and then create their own artistic interpretations of the music through paintings, colorings or drawings.
A panel of distinguished judges will review the entries, and the top 100 finalists will be honored at an Awards Ceremony at Powell Hall on March 1, 2012. The finalists’ artwork will be part of a traveling exhibition appearing at seven locations around the St. Louis metropolitan area, including St. Peters’ Cultural Arts Centre.
The mission of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is the enrich peoples lives through the power of music. The volunteer association supports this mission through unique education programs such as Picture the Music. Picture the Music helps develop the listening skills of children and encourages the integration of music and visual art. This program fulfills many components of the Missouri Standards Grade Level Expectations in Music and Visual Arts.
