Family, Friends, and Memories

2011 has been an incredible year of growth for our City. Of all that has happened, the highlight for me was the grand opening of 370 Lakeside Park. I have biked and camped there with my family … if you’re up early enough, I would love to have you join me in a bike ride around the lake. I go from City Centre Park to the lake and back, and it is a beautiful ride … but please plan on doing so come the non-freezing months. I hope you and your family will find the time to enjoy this wonderful venue, so close to home.

And speaking of family—I would like to thank my family for all the support and service they give to our community. My wife, Josie, and our five wonderful children take every opportunity to help in our community, our church, our neighborhood and to our friends. To me my “family” doesn’t end within my home. “My” family includes each of you … it is always such a pleasure to say hello to folks in our community as we share in our local businesses and venues. St. Peters truly has so much to offer—I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

As we enter a very prestigious political year, even a year of continued economic uncertainty and difficult challenges of job growth and social change, I offer you my personal prayers that you will find the simple moments of Truth that bring real peace and prosperity. In this, I wish you happy and joyous holiday celebrations and remembrances, and personally, from our family to yours, a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for a wonderful New Year!

This publication, the monthly electronic UpFront publications (also available in printed copies at City Hall and the Senior Center), and our online services offer a tremendous history and future of all the accomplishments that have occurred and will occur in St. Peters. Communication is critical to keeping you apprised of what is happening in our City, and gaining your input and ideas, and yet it still offers a challenge. Please take advantage of working with myself or Rocky or any of our City staff to learn what is going on in St. Peters. Please know how proud and very thankful I am for the wonderful men and women of our City who truly put their heart and soul into the work they do for us … this City wouldn’t be half of what it is without them. Thank you to each of our employees who truly make this City hummm with wonder.

And speaking of accomplishments, I would also like to thank all those who volunteer with our City. It’s hard to put numbers or dollars to the spirit and enthusiasm our residents, neighbors and friends give of their time and talents to make St. Peters such a great place to live, work, and play. Your time given is unquestionably one of the greatest reasons our City is always a step above the rest! Thank you for all you do … and if you have not yet volunteered—there is always a need to be filled.

I wish to say again a very happy holiday season to you all. From Thanksgiving to a very Merry Christmas to the start of a wonderful New Year…to everything in-between…may you all be blessed in all that you do.

I truly appreciate hearing from you and I ask that you continue to share your ideas and feelings with me as well as your questions and comments. Your concerns are my concerns. As always, please tell me what I can do better to serve the citizens of Ward One and all of St. Peters. Please contact me anytime at 636.248.5290 or via email at aldermandavethomas@gmail.com.
